Analysis and Solution of Hot Tearing Defects in Iron Cast Pump Casing via Investment Casting

Abstract:The hot cracking defects of special cast iron pump shell castings of Changjiang 750 by investment casting were analyzed by casting simulation software ProCAST and verified by experiments.The results show that the difference of cooling rate and solidification time between casting and pouring system is the main cause of casting stress and hot crack.By reducing the size of the casting system,the difference of cooling speed and solidification time between the casting and the casting system is reduced,the distribution of casting stress is improved,the stress frame effect formed by the casting and the casting system is alleviated,and the hot crack defects can be effectively avoided.
