Abstract:
A near-net-shaped processing route for a GH4079 superalloy was established through super-speed plasmarotating electrode processing (SS-PREP), hot isostatic pressing (HIP), and heat treatment. Comprehensive microstructuralcharacterization and mechanical property evaluation were performed on the samples. Experimental analysis reveal thatHIPed GH4079 subjected to standard heat treatment develops a refined, homogeneous grain structure with completeelimination of prior particle boundaries (PPB). The material exhibits average tensile strengths of (1 504±2.6) MPa (vertical)and (1 500±2.5) MPa (radial), accompanied by elongations of (22.0±0.3)% and (22.2±0.4)%, respectively. Testing revealsaverage impact toughness values of (52.2±2.3) J/cm2 (vertical) and (52.5±1.2) J/cm2 (radial). These results demonstrate theexceptional directional stability of the powder-metallurgy GH4079 superalloy, with the mechanical properties showingminimal orientation dependence.
