Effect of Tempering Temperatures on Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of 300M Steel

Abstract:The effects of different tempering temperatures on microstructure and mechanical properties of 300M steel were studied.The results show that the microstructure of 300M steel is composed of tempered martensite and retained austenite when tempered at 200-600℃.With the increase of tempering temperature,the lamellar morphology of tempered martensite gradually disappeared,the content of residual austenite decreased,and granular cementite or carbide precipitated.The hardness,yield strength and tensile strength of 300M steel decreased,and the elongation increased.
