Abstract:Cuss/Ni3Si composites were prepared by arc melting, the microstructure and wear resistance were studied. The
results show that the Cuss/Ni3Si composite has a uniform and dense structure, which is mainly composed of the ductile Cuss
and metal silicified Ni3Si and Ni31Si12 metastable phase, and has a good combination of strength and toughness. Ni3Si and
Ni31Si12 have high hardness and strong covalent bond, Cuss has good plastic toughness, low friction and self-lubrication
characteristics, so Cuss/Ni3Si composite material shows excellent wear resistance. Compared with 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless
steel, Cuss/Ni3Si composite has lower friction coefficient and wear rate. With the increase of friction load, the friction
coefficient decreases (from 0.38 to 0.22), and the wear rate increases (from 3.92×10-6 mm3
/(N·m) to 9.36×10-6 mm3
/(N·m)).
Under the same conditions, the wear rate of Cuss/Ni3Si composite is nearly one order of magnitude lower than that of
1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel
