Abstract:This work focused on the research of the recovery and properties of 4Cr13 stainless steel swarf produced in the machining process. The experiments showed that the oil and nonmetallic raffle in the swarf can be removed effectively by dipping and scouring; the polishing ceramic residues can be removed effectively by magnetic separation. After scouring and magnetic separation, the swarf powders were melted and heat treated. The Cr7C3 carbide and martensite structure were obtained by proper heat treatment. The mechanical properties testing results showed that the tensile strength, fracture toughness of the recovered stainless steel reached the level of the reference stainless steel. Results show that the stainless steel powder recovered by this technology can be used directly as materials, and this technology can be applied to the recovery of other magnetic stainless steel swarf.
