Mechanical Properties of SprayFormed Al10Si Alloy

Abstract:The Al10Si alloy was fabricated by spray forming and hot extruding, and the microstructures and mechanical properties were investigated. The results show that eutectic Si particles, with size of 2~4 μm, uniformly dispersed in the matrix of aluminum matrix were obtained in the hot extruded sprayformed Al10Si alloy. The elongation of the alloy was greatly improved (δ5=25.2%). In the tensile fracture of the alloy, large fine dimples and few Si particles were observed, and crack propagated mainly from the inside of Al matrix. The yield strength and tensile strength are 148 MPa and 197.5 MPa, respectively.
