Abstract:The γTiAl+α2Ti3Al alloys reinforced by TiC and Ti2AlC were synthesized by hotpressing using elemental powders of Ti, Al and active carbon. XRD ananlyze was used to study the phase constitution of the samples synthesized at different temperatures. The reaction process of TiAlC system was also investigated. The results show that TiC, γTiAl and α2Ti3Al phases exist in the product when it was sintered at 1 000 ℃ by hotpressing. As the temperature rises, there presents another reinforcement of Ti2AlC. According to the results of reaction process, TiC is the most stable intermediate phase in TiAlC system and is the precondition to synthesize Ti2AlC. Higher temperature favors the transition from TiC to Ti2AlC.
