Abstract:In order to investigate the variety of low carbon highboron cast steel (LHBS) and medium carbon highboron cast steel (MHBS) before and after heat treatment, the optical microscopy (OM), transmission electron microscope (TEM) and the Xray diffraction (XRD) were used in experiment; also rockwell hardness tester, pendulum impact testing machine and ML10 disk wear testing machine were utilized in this study for testing of corresponding properties. It was found that after water quenched at 950 ℃ and tempered at 200 ℃, both of MHBS and LHBSs matrix microstructure transform to lath martensite, but the boride form of LHBS doest change significantly and the boride network of MHBS breaks. The wear resistance of both MHBS and LHBS improves remarkably after heat treatment. The wear resistance of MHBS after heat treatment are better than high chromium cast iron, but the wear resistance of LHBS after heat treatment inferior to high chromium cast iron.
