In order to reduce the weight of fittings and improve the safety margin of fittings, the research and development of high-strength material fittings is carried out. Based on the design, manufacture, construction and operation experience of ±800 kV DC and 1 000 kV AC line project connecting fittings in China, and the characteristics of transmission line connecting fittings, the research on material selection, three-dimensional modeling, mechanical properties, heat treatment process, forging simulation analysis and mechanical property were carried out. As a result, the lightweight fittings based on ZG30CrMo material after heat treatment and forging process have been successfully developed. The weight of fittings can be reduced by 12%, and the technical and economic benefits are remarkable.
